Frequently
asked questions
How do you make sure
the dogs will get along?
When initially meeting with you we will ask questions about your dog’s personality and how they get on with other dogs. This is supplemented by a dog profile form we ask you to complete. Trial walks are available if you are not sure if your dog it suited to a group walk. From there, we can work out how they will fit in. In our experience we find that the dogs do well as they are all on equal territory and are just keen to get out and about!
What happens if my dog doesn’t like the rain?
Of course we will have rainy days and some dogs don’t like that! We have a 24-hour cancellation policy, so please check the weather forecast and let us know if there are days coming up that you’re not so keen on.
On rainy days we do give your dog a towel dry and a quick clean of their paws if required.
Will you let my dog off the leash?
Almost all of our clients are now off-leash dogs. On-leash is totally okay though, so just let us know your preference. Dogs will only be let off leash if they are highly trained with good recall, and with explicit permission from their owners.
What about extreme weather events?
We walk in all weather but if it won’t be safe for your dogs, we won’t go out.
Do I need to provide poop bags or treats?
We supply the poop bags as well as a few small treats to assist in training and reward. If your dog is on a special diet, please let us know.
Cancellation Policy
We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. We understand that schedules and plans change, so where possible we will try to move your dog to a different walk in the same week. If this is not possible, there may be a charge for the cancelled walk.
What happens if we go away or don’t need you in the school holidays?
No problem! Just let us know when you don’t need us and we will work that into our calendar. Advance notice is appreciated!
Can you take my dog for the whole day?
While we don’t offer a doggy day care service, we can pick your dog up with the morning group and return them with the afternoon group, spending time with us in the small gap in between. This would mean two walks for them and bonus time with us. Please get in touch if this is something you are interested in.
Do you walk on public holidays?
Walks do not take place on public holidays, and we will typically be taking a break over the Christmas/New Year period. There will be the occasional break during the year also, with plenty of advance notice to clients.
COVID-19 considerations
We will work within government guidelines and COVID-19 alert levels at all times. We’re unable to walk dogs during the previous Level 4 type lockdowns.
If anyone in your household is showing symptoms or waiting on the results of a test, please let us know. Our 24-hour cancellation policy does not apply (i.e. no charge for late cancellation) if COVID-19 is a factor.
